"For outstanding, meritorious service above and beyond the call of duty David Kincannon, Kent Van Valkenburgh and Ron Mayo were given the golden shovel and "elevated to the highest ridge in the sludge bed with all the honor, atmosphere, perquisites, and dignity appertaining, thereunto."

Kent Van Valkenburgh
Kent is a Past President (1980) of the Association, and continues to be active. He is the President of VANCO Engineering, Inc., Tulsa, a manufacturers representative. Kent has been an active sponsor of annual meetings since the early years of the Association. Kent has personally shoveled tons of sludge.
Ron Mayo
Ron is a Past President (1983) of the association, having held many offices in OWEA and its committees. He is the President of Hydronics, Inc., a manufacturers representative in Dallas. Although now a Texan, Ron continues to support OWEA and sponsor its annual conference. Through the years Ron has personally shoveled great quantities of both domestic and industrial sludge.
David Kincannon
David is the most recent editor and publisher of the OWEA Newsletter, and has been an active member of the Association for many years. He is the President of the consulting group, Environmental Engineers, Inc., Stillwater. David introduced full color artwork and photographs in the Newsletter. As a consultant, David has designed and deployed many sludge shovels.
Erwin Odeal
Erwin is the current Water Environment Federation Treasurer and represented WEF at this year's PWEA conference. He is already a member of the Society, having been inducted in the Ohio WEA years ago. As Chief Operating Officer of the Cleveland Area Sanitary District, Erwin currently supervises hundreds of shovelers, in moving megatons of sludge.
